This August, we will be working on a special project. We will recreate the beginning of this scene in The Lord of the Rings with Lego, faithfully reproducing frame by frame in a technique called rotoscoping. We will be using Dragonframe Stopmotion software and a Canon DSLR, to create a professional quality footage.
Now, to be honest, I am not a fan of Lego animation. I am impressed by it, and enjoy watching them to some extent. But I feel it is something we just have to do at least once at Flick Book Studio.
This is not for the faint of heart. We will be spending hours just to make a few seconds of footage. We will analyze every second of the original clip, make sets, plan the shoot, set up lighting and rigs. The good news is that we won’t spend any time editing sounds!
This is not a class. We will not be offering detailed instruction. Artists are welcome to join in the production, or just hang out. The idea is to learn by doing, or at least observing.
Kids can be dropped off for $30 for half day (9:30 am to 12 noon, 12:30 to 3pm) or $45 for full day (9:30am to 3pm). Registration is not required, but please call us (856-616-4635) or let us know which day you are interested in.
Adults are also welcome!
